Lesson of the Week
Mrs. Sadowski’s fifth-grade mathematicians dove into dividing whole numbers by unit fractions with energy, curiosity, and confidence.
From the very start, students were engaged—reviewing model problems, exploring key vocabulary through anchor charts, and getting their brains ready for some serious math thinking.
The lesson was packed with interactive strategies like turn-and-talk, making predictions, and quick thumbs-up/down check-ins. Every student had a voice and an opportunity to think, share, and grow!
One standout moment? A student posed a powerful question: “Is the denominator always the answer?” Instead of rushing past it, Ms. Sadowski turned it into a class mission. By the end of the lesson, students revisited the question and used their learning to explain their thinking—what an awesome example of deep, meaningful learning!
Students also impressed with their use of academic language, confidently using terms like dividend while explaining their reasoning. The classroom buzzed with collaboration, support, and a shared excitement for learning.
Huge shoutout to Ms. Sadowski and her fifth-grade math stars for making this a great lesson!
