Lesson of the Week
Congratulations Mrs. Stroebel!!!
Argumentative writing is taking center stage in Mrs. Stroebel's 6th Grade ELA class—and the students are absolutely making their case! Our young scholars are learning how to restate a question, answer it clearly, cite strong evidence, and explain their thinking like pros. These strategies aren’t just acronyms on a wall—they’re tools students are confidently using to defend their ideas and sharpen their voices. Talk about writing with purpose!
Taking it a step further, students dove into academic journals to evaluate an author’s point of view, weighing the pros and cons of each argument like true critical thinkers. They questioned bias, analyzed evidence, and discussed whether arguments were convincing or just trying too hard. The result? Thoughtful debates, respectful disagreement, and students learning that good writing isn’t just about opinion—it’s about proof!
And the latest hot-button topic? “Does homework make students successful?” Now that’s a question that might require consulting your resident 6th-grade expert at home! Whether they argued “yes,” “no,” or “it depends,” students backed up their claims with evidence and clear reasoning—no excuses, no missing citations! Mrs. Stroebel’s class is proving that when it comes to argumentative writing, they’re not just doing the work… they’re working the argument!
